About Bentonite MS
We stand at the forefront as the leading supplier of bentonite materials, premium slurry mixes and lightweight foam concrete in the UK. Our range of high-quality geotechnical solutions includes:
Bentonite Products
Bentonite’s main component is the clay mineral montmorillonite, together with associated minerals that include quartz, tridymite, cristobalite, mica, feldspar, pyrite and calcite.
The mineral is mined from various locations across the world before being ground to form a powder. Various additives may be added to the bentonite to enhance its performance.
Bentonite expands when wet, absorbing as much as eight times its dry mass in water. This allows it to permeate cracks and crevices, forming a self-sealing low permeability barrier – this is known as a bentonite slurry wall.
Bentonite (Manufacturing & Supply) Ltd can supply the following high-quality and effective bentonite grouts, bentonite cement slurries and other products.
Sodium Bentonite
Used as either a powder or in granular form, sodium bentonite is a natural clay that expands when wet to create a low permeability, self-sealing barrier against water.
Common applications include:
- Borehole sealing
- Grouting
- Sealing boreholes, deep ponds, lakes etc
- Geo-thermal wells
- Sealing landfill gas wells
- Isolating instrumentation and sampling
- And more
CEBO Products
Bentonite (Manufacturing & Supply) Limited is also an approved supplier of CEBO UK Ltd products and is able to offer both supply and installation of the following products for cable ducting.
Cebo Conduct-Gels
Comprising a special mixture of bentonite and graphite to create an all-in-one solution for making the heat transfer from power cables to the surrounding soil considerably more efficient. Offering high thermal conductivity and high flowability, these gels offer non-hardening suspension and can therefore be quickly and easily removed if required.
Please note that the densities of the following products range from 1096kgs/m³ to 1519kgs/m³, depending upon Thermal Resistivity value requirements. See the data sheets for more details.
CEBO Thermo-Grout Lite
This is a high-yield, self-setting grout with applications including vertical drilling and HDD. It offers consistent thermal properties, including thermal conductivity of 1,4 W/m*K.
Cable Ducting
Pumping in a liquid material that encapsulates the cable allows the heat to be transferred from around the cable to prevent it from overheating. Thermal grouting is an engineering solution to infill a duct with an HT cable insert with a low Thermal Resistivity material.
Heat is the prime enemy of electric transmissions, because it increases wire resistance and shortens the lifespan of the cable insulation. Cross-country transmission lines suspended high in the air from steel towers are not insulated and heat is easily dissipated into the air. But for cables buried in a conduit under the ground, heat is confined.
Nationwide Foam Concrete Providers
It is formed by generating and injecting thick foam into cement paste or cement sand slurry by mechanical processes. Typical foam concrete densities can range from as low as 400kgs/m³ to 1500kgs/m³ and strengths from 0.5mpa to 12mpa.
Based in Kent, Bentonite (Manufacturing & Supply) Ltd is one of the most reputable providers of foam concrete materials throughout the UK and has been significant in developing innovative solutions for the practical uses of foam concrete.
Slurry Walls
The material is used to prevent the migration of water, hydrocarbons and gas (on landfill sites) from one side to the other.
The slurry wall trench has to be dug down to the clay level, so when the liquid slurry is pumped in it makes a bond between the clay in the trench. This stops any seepage of water or contaminates moving through the ground.
