Reviews & Testimonials for Nicholson Carpentry & Joinery Ltd

Many thank to Michael and the team at Nicholson Carpentry and Joinery. First class service and a beautiful bespoke front door that looks superb. Michael very kindly encouraged us to come and have a look at the workshop to see for ourselves the calibre of the craftsmanship that the company provided. It was well worth a visit as it was clear that we would be ordering a top quality product. The fitters were also excellent and very efficient. All in all…couldn’t be happier. Thank you.

We were looking to replace our old hardwood conservatory. We browsed the internet and found Nicholson Joinery, who were reasonably local to us.

Richard visited our house and came up with some fresh ideas, which included having an orangery rather than a conservatory. We went along with this and are delighted with the outcome.

Richard and his team were easy to work with and did an excellent job for us.
Everything was done very professionally from the design and planning stage right through to the final installations.

Richard is a perfectionist and this so helped in ensuring that any issues were sorted out before they became issues!

We would have no hesitation in recommending Nicholson Joinery for anyone with similar requirements.

Hi Michael

Sorry I missed you at the end of today, unfortunately you had finished a bit before I returned home.

Just a quick note to send our sincere thanks for the wonderful job in installing our new front door.

The quality of both the door set and installation is quite superb and a real credit to you personally and Nicholson’s.

I think we had fairly high expectations (certainly high hopes) and the end result comfortably exceeds on both counts.

We have done quite a lot of work here over the years, including a fairly expensive oak floor, and this feels like the most satisfying job we have had done in terms of finish and value.

Somehow the hall even seems larger!!

Thanks again.

Best regards

Dear Richard
I wanted to thank you and your Team for the
amazing work you have carried out at the above address.
I am so pleased with the end result! The Roof Lantern looks amazing, it has
allowed the light to come flooding into the kitchen and dining area, as
these rooms were previously very dark.
The workmanship is first class.
What was very important to
me is that you took care of everything from start to finish, I didn’t
have to worry about anything.
I would not hesitate in recommending you
100% to anybody, as you and your team are trustworthy, considerate and
really nice to have around. I would not want anybody else to carry out
alterations to my home other than yourselves.

Yours sincerely

From the design through to the finish the excellent advice we received only confirmed what we already knew, you offer a first class service second to none. Mark did an extremely thorough job on the installation and the result is a magnificent staircase.

Many thanks.

We just wanted to say how pleased we are with our new French doors and windows, they look lovely and it’s a novelty to be able to open and shut them all with complete ease. Some of the work was very tricky but we are pleased with the attention to detail so please thank Boris and Sym for all their hard work installing them.

Just wanted to drop you a line to say how pleased we are with the Orangery you built for us on the back of the lounge. It was painless being built on site with great service all the way through the planning, buying and installation procedure.

From our point of view we were very pleased with the workmanship and professionalism whilst working alongside other tradesmen such as builders and plumbers.

Since the build we had only a small issue which was solved extremely quickly and efficiently and this year we have had the structure repainted so it is looking good as new again.

We would have no hesitation in recommending Nicholsons as a trustworthy, professional, helpful company and should any future clients wish to see our build or talk to us about using you guys please feel free to give them our name and number as a reference point.

Hope the company continues to go from strength to strength.

We would recommend Nicholson Joinery for their attention to detail and ability to recommend the right design for the space. Richard leads the design process and ensures that all options are reviewed. He has the experience and knowledge to gently challenge clients assumptions to ensure the right outcome

We used Nicholson Joinery to build a beautiful oak conservatory which maximises the space in our small garden but does not overwhelm the area.

We were so pleased with their craftsmanship we have used them in our new property to provide bespoke windows. We did do a market comparison and they do provide very competitive prices.

Born in Malton near York in 1872, Harry Nicholson started his career as a joiner upon leaving school. One of his first jobs was working for the estate at Castle Howard, one of Yorkshire’s finest stately homes and maintaining the joinery of this fine building. It was here that he met his future wife Sarah Ellen Parkin who was nanny to the four children of the famous chocolatiers, the Rowntree family who were the owners of Castle Howard at that time. With his work completed at Castle Howard, Harry and Sarah moved to South Birmingham at the turn of the century where Harry worked for the Cadbury family and completed work on many of the buildings of the Bourneville Estate As a master craftsman Harry worked on a number of historical buildings in the area including the building of the ornate domes of the Aston Webb building at Birmingham University. Harry was not only a skilled joiner but also proved himself to be a talented athlete when he won the Birmingham to Manchester bike race for “Birchfield Harriers”.
Nicholson Joinery is a business built on over a hundred years of family tradition in joinery. Following in the footsteps of his father, grandfather and great grandfather who were all joiners, Richard Charles Nicholson continues the family story. Richard still uses some of his great grandfather’s tools which are stamped with his initials. Two original Spear and Jackson hand saws have been used by all four generations being passed down over the years; they are now retired from service. Richard is proud to continue the family tradition of producing hand crafted carpentry using time honoured joinery methods.
