Marc itemised costs to the most minute detail but in the end, negotiated a big, lump-sum surcharge, divorced from his calculations, to settle his many disagreements with our contractor. His communication with the latter was confrontational throughout. To add insult to injury, he also became confrontational and condescending with us when we questioned his final bill, where he charged £420 to write up a two-paragraph letter. Looking back, it was a very costly (£11K vs the contractors fee of £117K) and overall unpleasant experience to work with him.
