Based in Hertfordshire England, Dean established New Build SAP to be a company with a clear purpose. We focus on producing SAP Calculations for new builds, conversions and extension glazing compliance. We provide this with ongoing support and consultation.

At New Build SAP we believe in providing a personal service, caring for each client’s individual needs and providing this service at a reasonable price. You will likely deal directly with Dean, although he works along with other experienced assessors. In this way small to medium-sized projects are our forte and the clients we love to cater for.

With decades of experience in Energy Assessment of Domestic Dwellings we have seen the raft of recent changes to the Energy Efficiency requirements up close and their impact on the end user.

Our attention to detail ensures that every project is handled with the utmost care. We will help you navigate this tricky area of legislation. We are also passionate about reducing the carbon footprint and heating demand of homes throughout the UK.

New Build SAP Calculations and EPC As Designed or As Built
SAP calculations are needed by building control to sign off a property to prove it meets Part L of the building regulations. Making sure your build will meet regulations is essential before building work commences to reduce complications later in your project. We can work along with you or your architect to find solutions to meet these requirements in the most cost effective ways. The Predictive and Final EPCs are produced from the SAP calculations.

SAP Calculations and EPC for Conversions
Whether converted from a Commercial Property, Barn or building that previously was not a domestic dwelling - SAP calculations and an EPC will be needed for Building Control to sign off on the project.
It is best practice to obtain SAP calculations at Design Stage so that we can make sure your plans meet Building Control compliance requirements before works start.

Extension Glazing Compliance
There are two services we offer to help you show Building Control that your designs comply with Part L1a of the Building Regulations. Part L of the Building Regulations requires that new areas of glazing in Extensions exceed no more than 25% of the new floor area of the extension. Tell us about your project and we can advise you which service you will need.

Overheating Calculations - Simplified Method
We can provide a simplified overheating dwellings calculations compliance report - helping you to achieve compliance by looking at the size and opening area of the windows to meet Part O standards. For properties with south facing large windows, bi-folding doors for example it is likely you will need to have Thermal Dynamic Modelling carried out. At this time we do not provide this service but we can recommend you to a qualified assessor.

Domestic EPCs for Existing Dwellings
Our experienced existing dwellings DEAs have been operating for over a decade in the North London/Hertfordshire area. We have seen a variety of updates to the Minimum Energy Efficiency Standard (MEES) for rental properties. We can help you to understand your EPC and the options that you have available to achieve a C rating for your property.

Under the 2021 updates to Part L of the Building Regulations (England), photographic evidence is now a mandatory requirement for new dwellings. Photographs should be taken for each dwelling on a development as a record during the construction of a property.
